TEERA members and others involved in endurance horse riding will be aware that, in order to ensure our sport remains ‘clean’, horses are regularly swabbed for drugs, both legal and illegal, at endurance events.
The swabbing procedure must be supervised by an accredited swab steward of which there are only a very few in Tasmania. There is an urgent need to train more, both in Tasmania and elsewhere in this country.
To that end, Equestrian Australia is seeking expressions of interest from interested parties to undertake the relevant training to become accredited. This involves a two-day course followed by attendance at three events acting as a probationary swab steward.
If you believe you may be able to assist, please contact the TEERA secretary Mark Dunn – secretary@teera.asn.au – by 10 November 2021.
